Exactly one year ago today, I had the pleasure of coordinating an amazing Wedding...with an equally amazing couple. Slightly OCD and incredibly detail oriented (definitely a compliment in my book), I knew Aleia and Ryan were just my cup of tea. :)
The Detroit Yacht Club served as the venue for both the Ceremony and Reception, a beautiful and historic members-only boating club located in the middle of the Detroit River on the gorgeous Belle Isle Park. The day was sunny and beautiful with a cool breeze wandering through the air, perfect weather for a Wedding on the water.
The theme of the day was beautiful and elegant, with classic touches of large pink blooms, gilded accents and white flowing fabrics....a look that was not only pretty but timeless. Even more beautiful was the Bride, dressed in a form-fitting sweetheart gown adorned with glittering rhinestones, accompanied by her ladies draped in pink chiffon cocktail dresses. The guys, equally as handsome, were dressed in black and dark grey suits...and were often found with cigars in their hands, taking any chance they could to toast the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. MacDonald.
The Ceremony, held in front of the grand stone fireplace was set with rows of gold chiavari chairs, which soon filled up with laughing and chatting guests, waiting in anticipation for the nuptials to begin. Complete with a beautifully timed processional, 2 adorable flower girls and some of the most heart-felt personal vows ever written, the Ceremony was short and sweet, ending with a loving kiss and rolling straight into a beautiful Cocktail Hour held on the 200' veranda overlooking the marina.
For the Reception, table upon table of soft white linens were lined up in the historic Ballroom, ready to receive their guests. Carved and hand-painted wood beams decorated the 25' ceilings and draped white chiffon curtains were hung as a beautiful backdrop for the sweetheart table that was prepared for the Bride and Groom. Pink and white floral arrangements and gold charger plates finished off the look of each table, inviting each guest to sit, dine and stay for a while...which is exactly what they did.
With too many fun moments to name throughout the day...one stand out favorite was definitely the blessing, made by the Mother of the Bride right before dinner. Not only were her words meaningful and full of emotion due to witnessing her daughter getting married not two hours before...but accidentally calling the couple Mr. and Mrs. Ronald MacDonald instead of Mr. and Mrs. Ryan MacDonald will forever be a highlight in my book...and I am sure Aleia and Ryan feel the same way. :)
Where are they now?
Aleia and Ryan, both incredibly hard working and community driven people are doing what they do best...working hard and helping their community thrive. You will also find them on their down time having many adventures...some big, some small, some close to home and some in far off places around the world...but the biggest adventure in their lives right now (which I am very excited to announce) is that they are expecting a little one in the near future...a baby that I have no doubt will be equally as awesome as its parents.
Congrats Aleia and Ryan on your first anniversary! It was an honor to be part of such a special day in your lives...and I wish you the best in both your marriage and your new family. I send you lots of love and hope for the future...and many many more years to come.

"Festoons and Flourishes was by far the best decision we made for our Wedding, well aside from the fact we got married! Not only is Ashley extremely professional and organized, she has a presence that is calm and collect, one that everyone needs around them for their BIG day. Ashley created the ideal Wedding for us, even helping up find vendors that we needed and ensured every detail was complete. I would highly recommend Festoons and Flourishes for any event you have if you want to take time to enjoy the event and let someone else handle the details. Fantastic job Ashley, we truly appreciate all you have done for us!"
