September 6th, 2014 was an incredible day...the sun was shining, people were laughing all around and Emily and Mike, along with their beautiful families and friends, were smiling from ear to ear.
The day started off much like any other Wedding Day; hair and makeup were in full swing, white floating fabric was everywhere to be seen and the gentlemen were just trying to remember where they put their pants. But beyond those items, everything was unique, a total reflection of the Bride and Groom...who they are as individuals and who they are together...which is (hands down) my favorite kind of Wedding.
The bright day at the private family estate in Howell was complimented by the bright white tent pitched on the lower lawn looking up the hill to the large handcrafted log cabin perched at the top. Gorgeous sunflowers were the star of the show in the ladies' bouquets, accompanied by matching yellow flowers of all sorts adorning the Guest tables and the golden yellow buttercream cake displayed neatly on the dance floor.
The Ceremony was simple yet fun, set in front of a large sprawling tree adorned with hanging paper chains and presided over by the Bride's Grandfather. The Bride and Groom's children, dressed to fit the grey and yellow color scheme, announced their Mother's walk down the aisle as 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' sang sweetly in the background.
After the vows were spoken and rings were exchanged (and a 'First Fight Box' was nailed shut...complete with Champagne of course) Guests were escorted 100 feet down the hill to where they would be spending the rest of the evening.
The Reception was full of goodies and fantastic food...beginning with a Popcorn Bar, moving onto BBQ as the main event, satisfying a sweet tooth with a Dessert Table of homemade cobblers and pies and finishing off with a local Hot Dog Cart for a late night snack. From there, all that was left to do was to dance into the darkness of the wee hours of the morning.
It was definitely a day that will be forever looked back on with a smile.

"Our wedding day turned into more than I could have ever imagined. I had every intention of doing everything myself until I met Ashley from Festoons and Flourishes at a bridal show. We clicked from the first moment and I knew she was the missing ingredient I needed for our day. She kept me on track all throughout the planning and was there whenever I needed her. She kept the flow going on the wedding day from beginning to end. I would highly recommend her and her company to anyone. Thank you again Ashley for making our dream come true."
